Overview


Laleshwar Mahadevji Temple is located in Bikaner district in Rajasthan. This temple is dedicated to lord Shiva.


About the Deity


In the sanctum sanctorum there is a Shiva Lingam having five faces. The temples also has shrines for Parvati, Ganesh, Kartikeya and Nandi. The Shivlingam is of black stone. It is 3” tall. Other idols of Shiva family are made of stone while Nandi is made of seven metals.


About the Temple


Maharaja Dungar Singh of Bikaner got this temple constructed in the name of his father Shri Lal Singh. The temple is named Shri Laleshwarji Mahadevji. Jagad Guru Adi Shankaracharya sect. Of Adwait philosphy. Around the principal temple there are small niches housing various aspects of Shiva. On the ceiling of the temple are drawn beautiful pictures in colours. This magnificent edifice is placed on a corner of one part of a Chokri in front of important urban functions

The temple looks like a citadel with very high strong ramparts.


Festivals


On the tenth day of the bright half of shrawan and on every Monday and Mahashivratri the deity is decorated with gold ornaments. Shivratri a night long programme of music singing Shiv bhajans and hymn singing takes place.
