Lakshmi Temple

A small temple devoted to Goddess Lakshmi, this temple is placed near to Jagnaath Temple which plays a very essential place in Rath Yatra. It is believed that the marriage of Lord Siva and Goddess Parvati occurs on the sixth day of bright fortnight of Jyeshta, during May - June, on the day known as Jyestha Sukla Sasthi. On this event, Goddess Lakshmi happily appeals the couple Shiva and Parvati in this temple. This Lakshmi Temple stands for the well being of people in Puri and is filled by many devotees visiting Puri. This is one of the many important small shrines surrounding the Jagannath Temple, thus visit the place which is termed as the heaven on earth. Both the devout and the pleasure-seeker bestow such praise on the place.
