Overview


Located in the Suburb of Chennai near Ram Nagar is the Lakshmi Hayagriva Temple in Nanganallur. The temple is dedicated to Sri Vishnu as Hayagriva (Hayavadan) Perumaland Divine Mother Shakti as Devi Lakshmi.


About The Deity


Lakshmi Hayagriva (Hayavadan) Temple

The Lors Hayagriva looks at the devotees from the right eye while the left is fixed on Mother and Mother looks at the devotees with her left eye looking at the lord with the right eye. This idol unlike most shows the lord and mother embracing each other (usually only the mother embraces the lord). This form is said to bring stronger marital affinity among couples. A disc often made of Gold, silver or copper also known as the Yantra depicts the meaning and effects of Mahamantras. It is installed under the presiding deity.


Festivals


On the Avani Tiruvonam star day the Float festival is celebrated (August-September) by hoisting the flag ten days earlier.


Significance


On this day special pujas are performed for those who are poor in academics and those who suffer stammering.

Airport
