Koteshwar Mandir

Overview

The Koteshwar Mandir in Satephal is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is located on the northern shores of the Wardha River in Satephal and is about 40 km away from Wardha. It is believed that Maharishi Vashishta , had prayed Lord Shiva and had performed Koti yagna in this place. Thus the temple got its name Koteshwar. The temple is located on the northern banks of the river Wardha, on which the Hemadpanthi temple of Lord Shiva is also situated. The sand near the temple resembles the Bhasma from the Yagnya. Hence the temple is considered sacred and has become a holy place for the Hindus, just like Kashi (Varanasi).
