Lord Kamat is another name of Ram, which means the fulfiller of all the wishes. This temple dedicated to Ram is located in the lovely ambience of a forested hill by name Kamatgiri. Kamatji temple bears close association with Lord Ram, Sita and Lakshman. Goddess Lakshmi flanked by idols of elephants and lions adorns the temple's entrance. Lord Ram accompanied by his consort Sita and brother Lakshmana embellishes the central hall of the temple. Flowers, coconuts and red clothes are the main offerings and all these things are readily available with in the temple premises. Kamatgiri constitute one of the Parikrama paths and the devotees strongly believe that circumventing the hill would fetch them the boons they want. The pilgrimage path, which is built by the Bundelkhand kings is five kilometers long and is flanked with numerous temples. Extreme devoutness that prevails in the entire atmosphere makes this spot a hub of devotees and it happens to be one of the busiest places in Chitrakoot.
