Overview
Pithoragarh is a town in the Pithoragarh district and is part of the Soar Valley which is compared to Kashmir Valley. Pithoragarh shares a nickname “little Kashmir” and boasts of exceptional and gorgeous scenic charms. This place is beautifully surrounded by Chandak hill, Thal kedar, Kumdar and Dhwaj Hills. A gateway to the Himalayas from the north this place is a rest and recoup center of all pilgrims travelling to Kailash Mansarover Pilgrimage.
Kamaksha Temple is located about 7 km north-east of Pithorgarh, offers a view of the town below and is surrounded by beautiful peaks. This temple was built by Madan Sharma and his family. This temple is also known as Kamakhya Devi Temple.
