Overview


Jagat Shiromaniji Temple is a Hindu Shrine dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is situated in the Jaipur district of Rajasthan, India.


About the Deity


Sri Jagat Shironmani temple was built by Queen Kanakawati in memory of her late son Jagat Singh. It was the wish of Her Highness that the temple be regarded as an universally acclaimed shrine and thus named it “ Jagat SinghMani” meaning “the head Jewel of Lord Vishnu”.


About the Temple


The temple was constructed by Queen Shringar Devi Kanakawat, the wife of King Man Singh, in memory of her son Jagat Singh. The temple is believed to have been constructed from the year 1599 A.D to 1608 A.D and stands as a finest example of palatial modelled shrines. The temple is largely constructed with white marble and black stones. An important highlight of this shrine is the depiction of various scenes from Puranas, including that of trumpeting elephants and horses. The temple complex also encompasses a two storied mandapam.

The temple's architecture is designed based on the South Indian style. The presiding deity of the temple is Lord Vishnu whose vigraha is made of white stone. A separate sub shrine called the Mira Mandir is found within the temple complex dedicated to Lord Krishna who graces here along with Sri Mira Bai, an ardent devotee of the Lord.


Rare Fact


A noteworthy feature of this grandeur shrine is its main gate alongside an ornamental bracketing. Next to it is the statue of Sri Garuda, the divine vehicle of Lord Vishnu, under a canopy.
