About the Temple
The temple was constructed by Queen Shringar Devi Kanakawat, the wife of King Man Singh, in memory of her son Jagat Singh. The temple is believed to have been constructed from the year 1599 A.D to 1608 A.D and stands as a finest example of palatial modelled shrines. The temple is largely constructed with white marble and black stones. An important highlight of this shrine is the depiction of various scenes from Puranas, including that of trumpeting elephants and horses. The temple complex also encompasses a two storied mandapam.
The temple's architecture is designed based on the South Indian style. The presiding deity of the temple is Lord Vishnu whose vigraha is made of white stone. A separate sub shrine called the Mira Mandir is found within the temple complex dedicated to Lord Krishna who graces here along with Sri Mira Bai, an ardent devotee of the Lord.
