Hariharnath Temple

The Hariharnath Temple is located in Sonepur, Bihar, India. The presiding deities are Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu. The origin of the temple is shrouded in mystery. A large section of people believe that the temple was built by Lord Ram on his way to Janakpur to win Sita. This temple does not have much architecture. There is a single square chamber constituting of the cellar, with a simple, ordinary roof, rising to a point, and with a narrow porch in front. These are the components of simplest form of temple. This temple has been referred during the Subedarship of Raja Man Singh who is said to have done some repair work. The present Hariharnath temple was built by Raja Ram Narain, a noted figure of Bihar during the later Mughal period. Recently the temple has been recently reconstructed by the Birla group. Hariharnath Mahadeo is the principle place of worship here but several smaller temples also receive the offerings of pilgrims. Among these are the Kali Asthan and the Panch Devata Mandir. The temple of Harihar Nath in Sonepur is believed to have been originally built by Lord Ram, the famous prince of Ayodhya, on his way to the court of King Janak to win the hand of Mata Sita.It is further said that Raja Man Singh later got the temple repaired. The Harihar Nath temple, as it stands today, was built by Raja Ram Narain and the most recent repairs on the temple were undertaken by the Birlas.

Meaning -According to this sloka, the heavenly maya of God is very complicated, but those who worship God will be able to overcome it.
