Overview
Ganesh ji Temple is a popular Hindu shrine situated at the Ganpathi Nagar locality of Jaipur, in the Indian State of Rajasthan. The presiding deity of this temple is Lord Ganapathy or Ganesh, the elder son of Lord Shiva.
About the Deity
Lord Ganesha graces his devotees here in the sitting posture. The vigraha(idol) of the deity is vermilion coloured as Vermillion paste is applies on the vigraha regularly. This kind of Vigraha is called the "chola" meaning covering.
About the Temple
The King of Mawali (Mewar) had suggested the construction of this the temple for the Lord. Accordingly, massive vigraha of Lord Ganesh was transported by a bullock cart. It was decided that a temple would be erected in the place where the bullock cart stopped. Since the bullock wouldn’t move further from this place, a temple for Ganesh ji was erected here. Sri Jai Ram Paliwal is believed to have borne the expenses incurred for the construction of this shrine.
This temple houses several artistically carved designs and pictures in marble, which are a real treat to art lovers.Visitors in and around the city of Jaipur throng this renowned shrine, especially on festive days.
Since Lord Ganesh is considered the foremost deity in Hinduism, his devotees visit this temple to invite the Lord and seek his blessings during all special occasions at their residence. Worshipping Lord Ganesh is said to remove obstacles and hardships from one's life. He is also believed to be an embodiment of knowledge and wisdom, who brings in good luck to his devotees.
Rare Fact
The prominent features of the temple includes the graceful idol of Lord Shri Ganeshs, artistical marble carvings and the weekly Chowk organised every Wednesdays. Pooja rituals are performed 7 times daily for the deity which includes the change of attires and ornaments for every dharshan. Bhajans are also chanted by devotees praising the Lord.

Custom & Traditions of Temple
Gauriya Vaishnava traditions are followed in the temple. The descendant of the poojaris from the Goswami community are the principal priests in this temple. These priests have migrated from Bengal. According to their traditions, the first born son in the Goswami priest's family succeeds the father as the Mahant or the Head Priest of the temple.

The temple is open from 5.30 am to 1.30 pm and again from 4.30 pm to 9.00 pm in the evenings.
