Overview
Byatarayapanna Betta is a small hill situated in Dodduru Karapanahalli, near Aaladamara town in the Kolar district of Karnataka. The hill consists of a shrine dedicated to Lord Vishnu, who is worshipped as Lord Bytrayappa. Legend says that Lord Venkateshwara from Tirupati had come to this hill for hunting. The word ‘Betae’ in Kannada language means hunting. Thus the deity came to be called as Bytrayappa. The hill consists of few caves which are said to have been used by humans in the ancient past. The view from the hill top is so scenic. One can enjoy the beauty of Kolar and its gold mining fields from the top of the hills.
