The presiding deity in this temple is Biligiriranga can be seen in a very unique standing position. This temple is the most famous structure in this area on the highest peak in BR hills, giving the hills themselves their name. These hills are the link between the Eastern and the Western Ghats and have a rich population of animals. This is where the Biligirirangaswamy sanctuary is - the sanctuary is hailed as an important biological bridge for the biota of the Deccan plateau.
