Overview : This Vishnu temple was constructed by Jagat Jaya Malla and initially housed an image of God Vishnu. In 1766 this image was stolen from the temple. When the famous king, Prithvi Narayan Shah reign was established in this region he decided to replace the stolen image with the image of Goddess Bhagwati which translates to beautiful goddess. Annually, in the month of April a procession is held wherein the image of Goddess Bhagwati is taken up to the Nuwakot village which lies 65 kilometers to the North and after the passage of a few days it is returned to the temple.
