About The Temple
Goa was once ruled by the Portuguese and this had an adverse effect on many Hindu temples of that region during their rule. The foreign rulers had in fact demolished and destructed many Hindu shrines of that region, in order to diminish the glory of the religion and to spread their own ideologies and beliefs among the locals. Only a handful of temples survived their wraths and this Bhagwati temple is one of those few temples that stood the test of time.
Dussehra is the most important festival that is celebrated here. This festival is one of the main attractions of this place and is celebrated grandly from Ashwin Shuddha Pratipada to Poornima. A huge crowd of devotees, numbering more than 25 thousand are believed to attend this festival celebration.
