The Arulmigu Veera Anjaneyar Thirukkoil is located in Vandiyur and is dedicated to God Arulmigu Veera Anjaneyar. It is widely believed that the Sarboji kings who ruled Tanjore decided to have a separate temple for themselves at Madurai and so constructed this temple at the banks of river Vaigai. They brought this Aanjaneya idol from Andhra, consecrated it and began worshipping. God Aanjaneyar faces south in this temple. The temple is situated in the banks of river Vaigai and the speciality is that the waters just touch the doorstep even when there is a high flow. Sannidhi for God Siva, Vinayaka, Naagar and Pandi, Munisamy are also found in this temple.
