Sri Anjaneya Swamy temple is located in Shamanur village of Davangere district of Karnataka. This temple is dedicated to Sri Hanuman, the monkey deity, who helped Sri Rama during his quest to find and rescue his wife Seetha from the demon Ravana. The Hanuman deity is 6 feet tall at this temple. Hanuman or Anjaneya has many temples in Karnataka and this temple is like a flagship temple. This temple and the village of Shamanur go back at least 800 years in history. Sri Anjaneya Swamy temple is a major tourist spot in Davangere.
