Visesha Puja

The Visesha Puja, or the ' Chaturdasa Kalasa Visesa Puja' that in English translates into“ the special puja of 14 vessels” is a festival that takes place at the Tirumala Tirupati Devastanam every Monday. Every Monday, after the second bell the utsava vigraha is brought to the mantapa for the puja after seeking the permission of Sri Malayappa Swami, and ankurarpana and punyaha vachanam is rendered by archakas.

As Panchasukatas-Sri,Bhu, Nila, Purusha and Narayana Suktas are recited, Tirumanjanam is performed for the utsava murtis.

Seven vessels out of the fourteen contain gingelly oil, milk, curd, ghee, consecrated rice 'Akshatas', Darbha and Panchagavya, while the remaining seven carry pure water, the Subhodaka.

Abhisheka Harati is offered to mark the culmination of the seva; Purnahuti is offered to herald the conclusion of the homa and Naivedya is offered to God. The arjita seva ticket holders who take part in the seva are presented with vastra bahumanam.
