Ratha Saptami

Ratha Saptami is celebrated on the seventh day of Shukla Paksha or waxing phase of the moon, in the Magh Month of January-February in a custom Hindu lunar calendar. Ratha Saptami is dedicated to Lord Surya, the Hindu God. This day is of great importance in Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. In Orissa, the day is observed as Magha Saptami. In another part of regions, the day is celebrated as Surya Jayanti.
