Why do we venerate Vinayaka even on streets and why do we knock our heads with our knuckles?

Vinayaka is a devotee, friendly God. He is worshipped by all ages of people and children are more fascinated about Lord Ganesha. He is prayed at the beginning of all occasions. He can be worshipped by just making a little mound made of Tumeric, rice flour, cow dung or clay.

Lord Vinayaka is simplicity personified. He simply accepts broken coconuts and durwa grass blades. A simple thoppukarna can make him happy.

The yoga sastra says when exerting ourselves physically and adopt complicated postures it helps to purify our body and mind. All this serves to bring tranquility to troubled minds.
