Third Day of Navratri – Maa Chandraghanta

The third day of Navratri is dedicated to Goddess Chandraghanta Maa. She is one of the nine incarnations of Goddess Durga. She has a half-moon on her forehead. It is in the shape of a bell and that is why she is called by the name Chandraghanta Devi. She is beautiful, blissful and peaceful. She wears a white dress and the lion is her vehicle. She has three eyes and ten hands. In her hands, she carries a sword, trishul, gada, kamandal, bell, arrow, lotus and bow.

Devotees worship all Gods and Goddess including the sacred Kalash of navratri. This is followed by a special worship of Lord Ganesha, Kartikeya and Goddess Saraswati, Lakshmi, Jaya and Vijaya. Chandraghanta Maa is the symbol of peace, strength and bravery.
