Annakara Chirakkal Bhagavathy Temple is approximately 6 km away from Thrissur, Kerala. The temple festival is recognised for its caparisoned elephant parade. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Bhadrakali. The temple festival is on January 31 and ends on Makara Bharani on February 4, this year.

Traditional performing arts, music and dance are staged during the period. Caparisoned elephants, melam, fireworks and sheevali are part of the festival. The annual festival is renowned for several important rituals. For the festival, the temple is beautifully decorated traditionally with plantains, coconut leaves, flowers, leaves, traditional lamps and lights.

Makara Bharani is among the most important days during the festival. Thousands of people visit the temple on this day to participate in the many rituals and festivities.
